About Microsoft Exchange

Elmhurst College full-time faculty and staff are assigned an Exchange account. Microsoft Exchange's features include email, calendar, and contacts that can be accessed on a computer, phone, and web so that all faculty and staff members can stay connected and in-sync. All services are available via any internet-connected computer and many mobile devices.


Activating accounts

Accessing email online
  • Your e-mail address will be in this form: username@elmhurst.edu.
  • To access your Microsoft Exchange email account online, use the link "College Email" located on the Elmhurst Faculty/Staff home page, or visit https://exchange.elmhurst.edu/. Here, enter only your username or e####### (e.g., "smithj" or e0123456), not your full email address.
  • Select "This is a public or shared computer" if you are accessing your email from a public computer, like in the library. Select "" if you are accessing your email from your own computer.

Accessing email via Outlook 2010 client
  • Your email address will be in this form: username@elmhurst.edu.
  • To access your Microsoft Exchange email account through your computer, you must have Microsoft Outlook 2010 installed on your PC or Microsoft Office 2011 installed on your Mac.

Forgotten password

To retrieve your Microsoft Exchange email password, call the Help Desk at 630-617-3767.


Syncing email to mobile devices

For Android users:

  • On your phone, press "Settings" from the apps menu, then press "Accounts and Sync" from the options list.
  • Press "Add account" and select "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync" from the accounts menu.
  • Follow through the steps to setup the account. Enter the entire email address: username@elmhurst.edu and the password.
  • Note: if you've been moved to the portal, for username enter your e######. If you haven't  been moved to the portal, for username enter your username from your email address.
  • For the Exchange server address, enter "exchange.elmhurst.edu" and for domain, enter "elmhurst.local" in the fields.
  • If successful, choose from the options to sync your email, calendar items, contacts, and/or tasks.
  • Press "Finish" for the phone to synchronize your data (could take up to two minutes, depending on connection type).

For Apple users:

  • On your phone, press "Settings" from the apps menu, then press "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" from the options list.
  • Press "Add account" and select "Microsoft Exchange" from the accounts menu.
  • Follow through the steps to setup the account. For email, enter the entire email address: username@elmhurst.edu and the password. For description, you may enter "EC Email."
  • Note: if you've been moved to the portal, for username enter your e######. If you haven't  been moved to the portal, for username enter your username from your email address.
  • For the Exchange server address, enter "exchange.elmhurst.edu" and for domain, enter "elmhurst.local" in the fields.
  • If successful, choose from the options to sync your email, calendar items, contacts, and/or tasks.
  • Press "Done" for the phone to synchronize your data (could take up to two minutes, depending on connection type).

For Windows Mobile users:

  • On your phone, press "Settings" from the apps menu, then press "Email and Accounts" from the options list.
  • Press "Add an account" and select "Outlook" from the accounts menu.
  • Follow through the steps to setup the account. For email address, enter the entire email address: username@elmhurst.edu and the password.
  • Note: if you've been moved to the portal, for username enter your e######. If you haven't  been moved to the portal, for username enter your username from your email address.
  • For domain, enter "elmhurst.local" in the field.
  • If successful, choose from the options to sync your email, calendar items, contacts, and/or tasks.
  • Press "Sign in" for the phone to synchronize your data (could take up to two minutes, depending on connection type).

For BlackBerry users:
